GENERAL INFORMATION
The tehsil sara-e-Alamgir is situated in district Gujrat. The District Gujrat is comprised of three tehsils (Gujrat, Kharian and Sarai Alamgir), four towns (Lala Musa, Jalalpur Jattan, Dinga and Kunjah) and One Cantonment Area (Kharian). Two Tehsils, Gujrat and Kharian, have VTIs i.e. VTI Gujrat and VTI Lalamusa (formerly VTI Kharian) where as third tehsil Sarai Alamgir is still vacant and has no VTI. VTI Lalamusa covers the large area and population of two tehsils i.e. Kharian and Sarai Alamgir and the towns of Dinga and Lalamusa itself.
According to Survey of Pakistan the total area of district Gujrat is 3,192 square kilometers. According to the census of 1998 total population of district was approximately 2,048,008 (2.048 million) persons with an expected growth rate approx. 2.2% to 2.5% or more. Reference to the approximate growth rate the expected population of district Gujrat is 2.611 million persons approximately. Out of this population 28% to 30% (expected percentage on the basis of census report 1998 with a growth rate of 2.5% as mentioned above) is located in urban area and rest is expected to be in rural areas. The ratio of Male to Female (as per census of 1998) is 1:1. With this ratio if accepted for 2009 approximate female population is 1.3 millions. Below tables presented the population division in
