Talk #2: Enable
Previously at #TFFT, in continuation of COACH series, Bro. Rj Si talked about the second step in helping a person change which is to Enable.
Mark 2:15-17 is the foundational bible verse of the weekly Feast across all locations. It shares how Jesus became controversial for having meals with outcasts and sinners. In ancient Jewish culture, that is like making a statement that they are part of His family. That is the exact same reason the weekly Feast was made for. It’s for people who are not religious, who don’t go to church, who feel far from God. and who are rejected in other churches.

To Jesus, people are more important than ministry. The problem of many religious people is that "they are too religious." You need to confess and change before you can serve or to do this and do that but not to Jesus. For Him, the star of coaching is not the coach but the coachee. It’s easier to see what is wrong just like parents’ tendency to fall in the trap of saying what bothers them. Instead, look for what is good in them, ask them they want or what they need, ask them how they are.
P - Picture: Ask your coachee: “What do you want me to do for you? What do you want to happen? What do you want God to do in your life?” Let them share their vision of what they want to do and where to go from there. The role of the coach is to clarify what the person wants.
A - Action: Don’t force your ideas on the coachee. Even if you know that his perceived goal is just the first stage and not the destination, let him pursue it. Your goal is to make them move. You may not know it yet but God has plans for you. Do not be afraid to fail as long as you stand back up, as long as you learn from these mistakes and correct them as you go.
Clarify his way. Coaches don’t give answers; coaches gives questions that will lead them to the answers. “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results, a wise man said.” You need to lead them to try something different. Ask them questions which they should reflect and work
