A true teacher is not someone who just teaches lessons to his/her students. Rather, a teacher is like a guide, who helps the students in each and every sphere of life, by giving the right advice. They are our future makers. All the great achievers in the world have come to this level because of their teachers. Without them, these great achievers would also have been like a blank sheet of paper.
Teacher's Day is celebrated to acknowledge the contribution of teachers in our life. In India, Teacher’s day is celebrated on 5th of September, every year. This day is also the birthday of Mr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. He was a scholar, a democrat, the president of India, & above all he was a teacher.
Once, during his birthday his students came up & requested him to celebrate his birthday. Mr. Radhakrishnan was not ready for it he said “instead of celebrating my birthday, it would be my proud privilidge if this day would be celebrated as teacher’s day”. From then onwards, teachers day has been celebrated every year in the honour of our teachers
Teachers mould our lives by teaching us the values which remain throughout our lives. Teachers need encouragement and support from the community to feel that their devotion to students is appreciated. A good teacher is like a candle - it consumes itself to light the way for others.
I take this opportunity to wish all my dear teachers a very happy teacher’s day.
