Felipe Andres Coronel , an American rapper that is better known by his stage name , Immortal Technique has many songs that focus on the controversial issues in global politics and societies. One of his most powerful songs that gets you thinking about the problems in our society is “ Dance WIth The Devil , which is a hip hop / rap song that was released in 2001. It is about a gang member who shares his very dark experience about himself and his friend. His friend, Billy, a young guy who joins a gang that makes him rape a women to prove himself in order to get in , then asking him to kill the women but when he sees her face he realizes it's his own mother and kills himself.

The tone of the song is angry , serious and deep . Billy is described as “ a corrupted
young mind , at the age of thirteen “ , who is “ fascinated by material objects”, while “ he understood money never bought respect/ He built a reputation ‘cause he could hustle and steal “.
This shows a big issue facing our society, young people caring only about money and just wanting to be respected and known , they do anything including stealing to build a reputation . In the hook , “ Dance forever with the devil on a cold cell block / but that's what happens when you rape, murder and sell rock “, shows how there is still consequences like being on a “ cold cell block “ , going to jail for doing anything in order to hustle, earn money and be respected even if it's bad. In verse three, the song is very imagery and get very vivid describing the rape scene , “ They all proceeded to rape her violently / Billy was made to go first , but each one of them took a turn”. The song suddenly gets even sad and shocking , when billy was told to kill the women, “
Right before he pulled the trigger, and ended her life/ He thought about the cocaine with platinum and ice/ cocked the gat to her head, and pulled back the shirt cover but what he saw made him cringe and stutter / ‘Cause he was staring into the eyes of his own mother “, this is a very sad and shocking scene in the song, he raped his own mother trying to get into a gang for respect and material objects. Not only were the lyrics really sad , but the musical elements , the pounding beat, slow piano and immortal technique’s strong and clear voice while rapping and how the song kept going from fast to slow, matched the songs tone and contributed in making it strong and very moving.
