In Marilyn’s final years she had been through a lot of good and bad times, as if her life were like a roller coaster ride, where at the end she met her death. Her last completed film was The Misfits, which was directed by her husband Arthur, in which she considered to be virtually over. She was eventually flown back to L.A. and admitted to the hospital. (Owings 76) After her divorce with Arthur was declined she stated she was having thoughts of suicide and was admitted the Payne Whitney Clinic, a psychiatric ward of a hospital in New York, even though she clearly didn’t want to be there. (Owings 78) She even made attempts to try to get herself kicked out but failed. After leaving the hospital and working on her mental state, in the summer of
(Owings 80,81,82) She began to film the movie Something’s Got to Give, which she never got to finish, but she was the first US actress to perform a nude scene in a movie. (Owings 82,83) Her last photoshoot, The Last Sitting, was 2,500 photo’s that showed Marilyn’s flaws which she displayed proudly. (Owings 84) After the photoshoot she did with the photographer Bert Stern and interview with Life Magazine, Fox asked Marilyn to finish film Something’s Got to Give. She gladly accepted, but she didn’t know that she’d soon meet her death. (Owings 87) Before her death Marilyn made many “suicide attempts” or cries for help or attention with all of her drug overdose incidents. It went to show that she was clearly sick, out of her mind, and close to death. (Owings
Marilyn is 5’5 ½”, which is also my height, and also has a beauty mark on the left cheek of her face just like I do. As for some interesting facts I never knew, which are very interesting. Her idol was Jean Harlow, who was an American film actress and sex symbol of the 1930s. Jean Harlow was also the idol of her mother’s friend Grace and Marilyn’s previous guardian. Hugh Hefner, a well-known playboy adult magazine publisher, owns the closest burial vault next to hers. Her trademarks were her platinum blonde hair, beauty mark, and red lips. A nickname she went by was The Blonde Bombshell. As for her star sign, she is a Gemini.
