The few things I did know about when it came to behavior disorders was that they are one of the thirteen category covers under IDEA. I also knew that when working with individuals with behaviors you have to be very patient and be aware of the individual’s diagnosis. From this experience I learned a lot of the paperwork that needs to be completed for individuals with behaviors disorders. I also got to witness first-hand how to deal with a behavior when it happens. The experience I got to witness first hand was when a male student was sent out of his general education classroom to Kristen’s classroom since he treated his teacher, since she was not helping him with his work. The first thing Kristen did when he walked in the classroom was ask him if he wanted to talk about what happened or take some time to calm down. The student decided to calm down first. Once he was calmed down Kristen walked over to him and asked him what happened in a very strict and calm way. When she finally figures out what happened she explained to the student that he is going to have to deal with the repercussions of his actions as well as fill out a form explaining what happened.
