Quentin Tarantino has greatly improved his career since his first script in the late 1980’s.One of his latest achievements is his film Django, which grossed an astounding $425 million worldwide. However, his most iconic films are those that kick started his career such as: Pulp fiction and Reservoir Dogs. Although both movies are similar in content and dialogue, Pulp Fiction differs in its complexity, plot, budget and high profile cast.…

Watching movies at night can be an enjoyable way to relax as well as get insight on different life styles and situations. Two movies I really enjoy watching are The Fast and Furious and Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. These two movies have a lot of similarities, such as the common theme is about racing, the main characters work together, and in the end they find resolutions. Of course they also differ in many ways, such as the type of racing, the general audience, and their individual budgets. It can be said that these two films offer a great comparison of the different lifestyles associated with racing, however both offer wildly, entertaining visuals, original comedy, and an action packed thrill ride that will have you wanting to "GO FAST!!"…
The Differences and Similarities between the Book “Hatchet” and its Movie “A Cry in the Wild”…
In this essay, I am going to compare and contrast the two novels ‘Scorpions’ by Walter Dean Myers and ‘Outsiders’ by S.E. Hinton. I will summarize the stories and then describe their differences and similarities. For example, both books are about gangs. But in Scorpions, there is one gang; in the Outsiders there are two.…
“What was the point? So I could go to some suck-ass college, get a diploma, march out into a job that I hated, marry a pretty girl who would want to divorce me, but then she wouldn’t because we’d have kids, so instead she’d become the angry woman at the other end of the kitchen table, and the kids would grow up watching this… If that was life, then it was twisted” (190-191). In the novel Twisted by Laurie Halse Anderson, Tyler John Miller is an average nerd and senior in high school, living in a household of harsh language and constant fighting. He lived in the social background, having only one friend, Calvin Hodges, nicknamed Yoda for his obsession of Star Wars. But at the end of his junior year, he pulls a prank on the school grounds - he spray-paints the school building with obscene words, and he is caught, making him become popular with much of the student body and giving him a reputation for being reckless. When naked pictures of Bethany Milbury, a popular girl and Tyler’s crush, are released after a party, Tyler is the main suspect, though he is innocent, which causes many of Tyler’s problems in this book. Tyler…
Although the main theme of the two texts is anger and how boys express this strong feeling as a way of solution to conflicts, the texts, in term of form they are fundamentally different. On the one hand, text 1(a) is a poem called “Rites of passage” written by Sharon Olds, which ironically shows how this violence has been present in the life of the poet’s son. On the other hand, text1 (b) is an extract from scholarly study, “Real boys” by William Pollack, which analyses anger in society as a whole and how boys are forced to prove their manhood to one another.…
I was especially fond of Jones’s creativity in not using the overused example of “standing up to a bully.” As a child Jones describes himself as “small and puny” unable to face any of his fears. Then one day his mother’s friend suggested that she bought The Hulk comics for Jones. Beginning that day Jones describes his delight to fulfill his inner rage and relate it to the Hulk. Jones claims that this is his inspiration to one day becoming both a famous action movie film writer and comic book writer. As he interviews and comes across children who have also been inspired by his works he says they all had one thing in common, they overcame personal fears as “people pulling themselves out of emotional traps by immersing themselves in violent stories.” In modern society where rage is absolutely opposed, so many kids are unable to release their rage. Where is all this bottled up anger supposed to…
In both Fight Club and The Secret Sharer, the protagonists (an unnamed narrator and an unnamed captain) both have low self-esteem, and low self-worth. They both experience feelings of loneliness and isolation, as if they are cut off from the rest of the world. To overcome these low self-perceptions, they subconsciously create a manifestation, a second self. Their ‘other self’ is the opposite of themselves; confident, headstrong and powerful. However, while we know that Tyler (Fight Club) is not real, we are not sure about Leggatt (The Secret Sharer) as there is evidence to suggest that he is real, but also evidence suggesting that he is not.…
In the spontaneous movie We Bought A Zoo, directed by* Cameron Crowe, Benjamin Mee goes through his life trying to feel complete again, trying to fix things, and trying to get his family on the right track on life again. In the beginning of this story, Dylan was in the principal’s office. Benjamin notices a squeaky window. Even though he has to be focusing on Dylan, Benjamin walks over and tries to fix it. Dylan tells angrily tells his dad to stop but, as always Benjamin said he could “fix it” (Crowe, x;xx). In addition, of Benjamin Mee trying to fix the window he also wants to help the zoo animals. Benjamin sees when Buster (the bear) escapes from his enclosure he is really jubilant and free in all of the space outside of his cage. After,…
Tyler started writing in a journal about his abuse that he had suffered. He created different character in order to conceal that the story was about his own suffering. It was then that he decided to turn his work into a screen play; I know I’ve been changed (Hughes, 2004). This courage gave him the strength to confront his own demons and forgive them. Tyler stated that “it wasn’t until he forgave everyone for the things that they had done in the past” that he began to find the path to happiness (Hughes, 2004). Perry’s obstacles didn’t end there, the play was a flop and many people wanted him to give up. He put his all into promoting his play that he became homeless when he couldn’t afford to pay his bills.…
Zack Snyder may have already confirmed that DC heroes like Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash will be making their debut in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but the characters are expected to only appear in small cameos. However, it has just been revealed that Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen might actually see the future of the Justice League in the film!…
Anger is a strong emotion we experience and, more often than not, is provoked by a special thing. Likewise, the book “The Pigman” elicited anger within me through certain scenes. The most intense scene was on chapter thirteen; when John decided to take advantage of Mr. Pignati’s trust and throw a party at his house. Wasn’t it enough that Mr. Pignati treated John like his own son, but he had to invite people for beer? Not only that, but on page 142 Norton smashed the White Pig that meant a lot to Mr. Pignati. Reading that event made me beyond angry, that I wished I could dive in the book and reverse Norton’s actions. John himself voiced my thoughts vividly, “I felt like Killing Norton as I plowed into him, punching his face like it was a sack…

The Jaguar is a poem about a fierce animal from the image of which Ted Hughes unearths something about human nature. On the surface, the poem is an animal poem which reminds us of the wrath and violence of the Jaguar. It is a symbolic poem about an animal which is fiercely energetic. Here the poet reveals his thoughts through a sight of a zoo. The animals like the apes, the parrots and even the snakes, tigers and lion seemed to be quite content with their present situation. These animals as they accepted imprisonment, rest in somnolence. For instance, the apes ravel in yawning and adoring their fleas in the sun. The parrots are uttering loud cries or moving about proudly as to attract the attention of the spectators and get nuts from them. The tiger and the lion looked tired and lazy as they lie motionless in the sunlight. In fact, all of these animals are fatigued with indolence. As a result, the zoo looks like a multicolored picture painted on a nursery wall by the very students of the nursery. Even the boa-constrictor seems to have lost its strength and velocity and lies like an ancient fossil.…
