The word choice, sentence structure, figurative language, and sentence arrangement the author {Kimberly Brubaker Bradley} uses, makes the text journalistic or informal like. When the characters talk, they don't speak formally or with really bad grammar. They talk like normal people would do. Kimberly writes with little figurative language. When she does though, it is relatable to the text, and easy for younger readers to understand.…
How Tha Carter 3 came to be "the most anticipated rap album of 2008" could involve standard delays and guarantees of a great body of work , and bullet points that might solely exist within the ridiculous world of Lil Wayne. Wayne at the time was destroying mixtapes as he took a large number of shots at other celebrities on his previous album (Tha Carter 2), making him a Hip-Hop superstar. His "best rapper alive" quote is discussed till this day.…
She talks about being a girl and being an ugly girl and powerless with that being said. Where at the end she uses that power and doesn't abide by society and the…
The entire poem is written with a tone of sadness or depression. This evokes the senses of the reader by being able to sense how the girl is feeling and see how the words of others affect her. It can be pictured, this little girl who plays with the Barbie doll and it is just a toy, but to others it is the appearance that society wants and she soon realizes that when a fellow classmate hurts her with mean words. She can not go on with the fear that everyone sees her as imperfect or flawed, so in the end she gives up on trying and eventually gives up on herself. A simile in the poem, “Her good nature wore out/like a fan belt,” the message here is that she has given up on everything.…
“Don’t blame me when he gauges your eyes out” said Jem when introducing the Radley house to Dill. This shows how the town is scared of the Radley family although they don’t know much about them. This is important because without the Radley mystery half of the book wouldn’t have been written. It also shows many different types of rhetorical devices and figurative language.…
Most authors give small details throughout the novel of where and when a story takes place, and the reader must piece the bits together. As I lay dying is no exception and like any other book gives many examples of setting. First off you can tell that the story takes place many years ago through simple statements given throughout the novel. For example, when it says that all of the women inside of the house had to use fans to cool themselves it suggests that air conditioning was not around yet, therefore it was an earlier time. (Page 81) Also throughout the entire beginning of the novel Cash’s only tools for building Addie’s coffin are a saw and hammer, there is no mention of any newer power tools. Then when Anse is talking…
Living in South Florida presents the opportunity to take part in a variety of water activities, such as fishing, boating, and swimming. But for many residents who aren’t able to swim, the water is a frightening and dangerous place. Despite being surrounded by water, between 50 and 70 percent of children in Florida don’t know how to swim. Those numbers are staggering and tragically this statistic is why more children in Florida die from accidentally drowning than any other state in the nation.…

She herself is trying to sing a better song (better herself and discover herself) and do something with her life…
In the process, cosmetic and healing rationales become blurred as patients pursue an expansive, qualitatively defined state of well-being that I call ‘esthetic health’.” Our generation want the perfect body and I know all of us at least once thought about getting something done to our bodies. It’s because of what we see and what the media represents as being normal. Listening to this song Christina lets you know that everyone is not the same but we all are beautiful. This article goes to show that women are less insecure when they love their selves for who they are. Throughout this song Christina used a lot pathos and I would base this song off of an emotional setting. Christina is able to persuade us by using pathos lyrically and ethos and logos visually. This song was for Christina and her need for self-affirmation through this song. Things that dealt with the social influences of the pop culture- driven society. This would be scrutinized as a form of symbolic communication. This message is heard because pop music is popular and that allows more people to hear this song and the message more often. The…
. This song is about someone having to live up to the expectations someone else wants for them. They are pressured into having to be exactly like that person. They are nonstop always being smothered, and absolutely hate the fact that they cannot be who they want to be. They eventually get tired of listening to him/her and start living to their own expectations.…
Most girls grow up and think there are certain standards they need to reach in order to feel liked. Standards that are designed to create the perfect image that are otherwise impossible to reach. And when one cannot meet these standards, they feel a sense of humiliation and loathing towards oneself. In this poem, the speaker does not have a lot of self-confidence, for she feels her “bones didn’t fit in [her] body” (32). The speaker felt foreign and awkward in her body and had a…
