While I don’t typically favor novels from the World War Two era or historical fiction novels overall, I enjoyed The Book Thief because the author integrates a unique writing style throughout the novel. -The choice to make Death the narrator provides insightful observations with a distinct tone, as he uses strong vocabulary and description with figurative language even when explaining simple plot events. Although the book is long with a complex storyline, the narrator’s tone makes every section equally captivating. Furthermore, Death uses modern language and a relaxed tone, as the narrator speaks to the reader directly, thus increasing the novel’s entertainment. -The choice to make Death the narrator provides the reader with insightful observations
