paper. In the process, he unrolls much of it, but seems pleased with himself in the end. By 30:20, Ponijao is sitting by adults but needs something to entertain himself with. He finds what seems to be a bone. He takes it, studies it, and puts it into his mouth, exploring the bones qualities, like taste and texture.
The Common Thread that connected all the mothers in this film was their love and Devotion to their children.
There is an obvious effect they had on the child growth and development. Each mother did many things to promote the development of her baby. For example, you can see Bayar’s mother talking to him at 12:00. Even though he is only a couple months old, and doesn't understand what she is saying, this is helping her build a relationship with her daughter and helping her daughter develop socially. Hattie’s mother, 37:50, wants to bond with her daughter in the pool. Sadly, Patty does not take this experience well. Never the less, you see that had this mother is kind and encouraging to her daughter. 57:18 depicts Mari playing with her balance bike. With it, she is learning how to walk. Mari's mother is behind her encouraging her and praising her for the good job. This is no doubt building Mari’s self-confidence and sense of self. 53:50 you could see Ponijao's mother talking to him. Whether she is talking in her native language or babbling, this helps develop the language skills of her son, besides for it being a good boning
experience.
This documentary taught me not only about babies, but about humans in general. The main take-home point for me, when looking at it at all the characters depicted, was that even though there were four very different cultures studied, and each of the four families Led such drastically different lives, many similarities can be seen. We see how the children developed at a very similar rate, passing the same milestones. We see people interacting with the children in ways that were not too different from one another. We saw the way the children interacted with their environment, every child had their steps, with their own supports, but when you look at it side-by-side you realized they were more similar than you would think. Yes, we are taught that no matter where you come from in the world, you're not that different to everybody else, but seeing it like this seeing it this way made it very clear. The style os the film, with minimal dialogue, and focused on babies, whose life is less complicated, really brought home the point that the dissimilarities are minuet.
