On Friday October 11th, the hearing of Thomas Clarence commenced. During the hearing the senate members berated Hill with a series of questions about the explicit details of the sexual harassment Hill endured, looking for any misstep to completely dismiss the case. Hill described the hearing as “awful” because she not only had to relive the situation, but Hill was also embarrassed to have to talk about such private things in front of basically the entire country. After Hill had fully testified she pulled her witnesses to support her claims and speak about her behavior during her time at EEOC. In the end, the accusations against Thomas were dropped because Thomas’ turned the hearing into a case about his victimization by the senate because he was an African American man. It was easier for the senate to negate the accusations than continue to fight them.
