Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow were the most famous gangster couple in history, made more so by the 1967 Oscar-winning film Bonnie and Clyde, starring Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway. From 1932 to 1934, during the height of the Great Depression, their gang evolved from petty theives to nationally-known bank robbers and murderers. Though a burgeoning yellow press romanticized their exploits, the gang was believed responsible for at least 13 murders, including two policemen, as well as several robberies and kidnappings. The spree ended when they were betrayed by a friend and shot dead at a police roadblock in Louisiana on May 23, 1934.…
The Story of Bonnie and Clyde has been told many times throughout History. The Crime duo spent their last two years on earth striking back at society and those who they saw held responsibility for the downfall that was occurring. The Couple Decided to take action during the Great depression. Their two year crime spree consisted of Murder, Kidnapping, Automobile theft, and Robbery.…
The things that impacted me about the movie are the fact that it is based on a true-life story. The filmmakers did a good job of being realistic in the fact that not everyone is going to support a mentally challenged individual all of the sudden being a part of a…
This movie took so many unexpected turns it is unbelievable. The most interesting thing is that considering the era when the movie took place, there is such a rich plot and the overall story is extremely intriguing. This movie exhibits many social standards that we often still face today making it somewhat relatable to present day society. Feelings of insecurity was really the main background of this movie and that is what made it most relatable. The way the setting was exhibited through the film, the emotion of the film was captured through that.…
The film skips completely around Clydes Back story and the reasons why he is robbing in the first place. They don't seem to take much account of his criminal past and prison time except to mention him cutting off his toes twice. The film also would lead you to believe that Bonnie is slutty and wild in nature, someone who is always craving more out of life and can only find it by running around with Clyde shooting people. I think in the effort to make this film seem exciting and grand the producers left out the important information about how Bonnie and Clydes relationship really grew. They left out the mention of all of the love letters the couple exchanged that undoubtedly deepened and pushed their love for each other along in life. As a matter of fact they didn't show or allude to any separation of the couple at all in the film.…
With this movie it shows a lot of the good and the ugly in people. It shows that most people can change because of the…
Facher: knock a guy down, knock him in a way that he can’t get up again…
In her article, Laurier states that the film treats its characters with too much detachment and over emphasizes the brutality which causes no sympathy for the victims in the film, when in reality the complete opposite is true (Laurier, Joanne). Throughout…
The idea of Grace helping the boys is shown and also it explains the fact that her early life determines how she interacts with the troubled boys. I also agree that the movie acts as a good educational tool by using these experiences to show how people can handle certain situations. You also that caregivers provide an emotional role in peoples lives. In the review it also mentions that emotions are hard to understand but the movie does a good job of making the audience experience the emotions of the characters. The facility is good because Grace helped the young people and experienced emotions of their lives together. The relationships between the teens also were changed throughout the…
This movie took me back when I was still a young man, trying to find my individuality. I remember comparing my father with people I admired. Although I hate to admit it I wanted to be more like those people than like my father just like C wanted to be like Sunny. Today I am a father myself and certainly don't want to see my kid hanging around with another person trying to take my place as a father, especially if this person is doing bad stuff ; just like Lorenzo tried to keep C away from Sunny.…
Watching this movie, I found myself laughing, then crying and then laughing and feeling happy. I found myself relating to the characters, most of them in one way or another which was a good feeling. I saw the insecurity in Evelyn, the way that she is so passive and shy. She is very naïve. She is trying to get her husband to pay attention to something other than sports on television. He comes home from work, picks up his dinner that has been set on the table, grabs a beer and then he sits in his chair and ignores her. The stubbornness of Idgie, she is one that does what she wants, when she wants and won’t follow the rules, even if they are in her best interest. The quiet strength of Ruth, she can be the…
It’s amazing how different the country was back then. It is a very moving film and it’s difficult not to be moved emotionally by the tragedy and senselessness of it all. It is just as vivid to the all the friends and relatives of the four little girls, as if it happened yesterday. As I stated, the film is very intense and moving because the memories of the people involved are still quite vivid. One scene that stood out to me was when one of the mothers’ stated that she doesn't harbor any hate. She used to but has kind of resigned herself to the fact that that it wouldn’t do any good at this point. Nevertheless, she admits that it’s something that she has to work on daily through her belief in God. Of course, it makes us wonder if we would be able to somehow handle it as well as she has.…
The three aspects of the film that illustrate the healing effect of story on human life are the direction, the funny scenes and the music. The way Roberto Benigni directed the film he is showing that life is not about laughter only. At first I didn't expect the film to have a lonely part, in life you don't know what is going to happen next and what to expect. One funny scene that i love is when Dora is been stung by a wasp and Guido asked her if she is stung in other places. The music of the movie is so calming and everytime I hear it I feel like I'm in a disco or a dance ball in the…
Today, most individuals are used to the modern Ratings system and enjoy very little censorship in movies. However, it did not always used to be this way. Starting in the 1930's, movies were required to follow a strict set of rules and morals called the Motion Picture Production Code. When the Production Code was abandoned in the 1970's, directors gained more freedom than ever when making movies ("Hollywood Censored: The Production Code."). One film that came during this time is The Godfather, based on the novel by Mario Puzo, directed by Francis Ford Coppola, starring Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, James Caan, Richard Castellano, Robert Duvall, Sterling Hayden, John Marley, Richard Conte, and Diane Keaton. The Godfather tells the story of a family involved in the mafia. The head of the family, Don Vito Corleone, is known as "Godfather." Throughout the film, the audience sees a mob war being fought between the…
It portrays a sort of dominant feeling over the hundreds of Nazis fleeing for dear life for the inglourious basterds as well as from the point of view of the audience. It almost shows how easy it is to kill an enemy when proper planning all falls into place ending successfully.…
