Reflection
Communication has changed in many ways but most is done in memos, letters, and e-mails in a business setting. Educating yourself on the correct format when sending an e-mail to a client or your boss is important because once you are in a professional setting you will not have anyone helping you correct every mistake. Letters are usually sent to those outside of the business, memos go to those within the business or organization, and e-mails are sent to everyone including clients so it is important to ensure they are done correctly. Using paraphrased material can be risky unless you are sending a memo or e-mail to a work colleague who knows the abbreviated notions within the workplace. Oral communication is important as well because without the proper speaking skills you will never get your point across. Knowing how to write speaker notes and a well made PowerPoint presentation will help to get the message across to your audience. Group communication can be a difficult task but knowing how to solve disagreements and everyone within the group knowing what their task is and when it is due helps the communication flow and gets the project done. Communication within the workplace is everyday and therefore the communication needs to be understandable to all. Educating yourself in communications is important for a career in business.
