Finding Forrester Film Analysis
Finding Forrester (2000), directed by Gus Van Sant and written by Mike rich, is an inspirational film that captivates you if you pay attention. The reason I say this is because nothing extraordinary happens the first few minutes of the movie. It begins like some of the ordinary movies I have seen before. For example, I Robot is one of the many movies that starts off with the usual waking up routine. Jamal who is played by Rob Brown, as predicted, arouses from his sleep to start off his day. There is nothing dramatic about that scene it.All of the cast's acting skills are well defined for their part It almost had me forget I was just watching a movie. Well all except for one, Glenn Fitzgerald, who played the delivery man named Massie.
The particular scene where Jamal and him interact by his BMW seemed very uneasy. The way that he acted was strange when he was looking around while listening to Jamal.
I think that if he is afraid for his BMW or life, he would have avoided talking to Jamal period.
But Brown's structured acting took off much off that unsettled scene.
On another note, I did enjoy the writing lessons that were said by Sean Connery who played William Forrester. One of them. was the part that said something like you unite the first draft with your heart and revise it with your mind. It had me thinking to myself that if I were ever to write a book or novel, I would consider this approach on it. It was a great way to know a bit about the life of writing.
