Finding Nemo Analysis
My choice for this topic is a bit different than the other choices I have seen so far; I chose Finding Nemo. The movie finding Nemo is about a father fish, Marlin, whose son was trying to be brave on a school trip by swimming out further than everyone else and he got captured by fisherman. At The beginning of the story, Marlin’s wife, Nemo’s mother, is killed and Marlin vows to always take care of Nemo. This “promise” leads him to be overbearing and very protective of his son. We then transition into when Nemo is captured by the fisherman’s net, and this is where the story begins. The story then turns into a great adventure where Marlin is trying to find his son and bring him back home to where he is safe. During his journey, he meets many new creatures, and encounters many scenarios that …show more content…
However, throughout the story she serves as a great help to Marlin in finding his son, and she also helps Marlin understand that he “has to let go.” Not only is she an example of the supernatural aid because she helps Marlin on his “quest” to save his son; she is a mentor and helps him transition from being a stickler to being more “free” and helps him live a better life in the end. The specific “initiation” example of this movie is “the road of trials.” The road of trials could be when Dory and Marlin are confronted by the Sharks who are holding a Shark style AA meeting, or when they have to bounce over the jellyfish through a sea of jellyfish, or when they are almost eaten by a giant fish with a light on its head. Any of these trials or tribulations could be used as an example for the road of trials, because this is when Marlin starts to not be so “safe” and starts to transition into a more “free” character. The last example would be the “return”, the example of the return falls under “the crossing of return threshold.” At the end of the movie Nemo is back at school and Marlin is saying goodbye to

The motion picture we are applying or using is Pixar's "Finding Nemo". Our hero would be Marlin, the timid clownfish who lives safe and secluded in the colorful and warm tropical waters of the Great Barrier Reef. After the devastating, life changing event when starting a family, specifically when a hostile fish devoured his wife and all his unborn kids, Marlin had been a cowardly, cautious individual who lacks socialism and simply "can't tell a joke". He limits, rescues, protects and controls Nemo, and expectations are low for Nemo's ability, due to his disability. He is somber, worried and agitated about every detail in Nemo's life. In fact, Marlin's life completely revolves around Nemo's life. Also, Marlin can't acknowledge or admit that he has any problems. Following Joseph Campbell's steps, Marlin eventually becomes an epic hero by following the epic hero journey and relinquishes his flaws. "Finding Nemo" would be a fitting selection of a fictional depiction of the Hero's Journey.…

Aquatic and wild animals seem to be a huge contribution of our society and entertainment, but rarely we see incidents recently recalling killer whales at SeaWorld. Reading the article “After Seaworld, ‘Blackfish effect’ on circuses and zoos?” by Kelly Wallace, shows the viewpoint on the topic of the movie called “Blackfish.” The film is about Seaworld and the famous killer whale Tilikum. The history of him and his seaworld experience was introduced. He ended up killing his trainer Dawn Brancheau, and some people even blamed her for it. This is a topic that is rarely discussed in society, but it seems as if people have a misunderstanding or don't know enough about it to have an opinion. The shocking news, is that this is not the first time…

    Fantasia Barrino

My first choice would have been a movie called Freedom Writers, however, since Brittany has already discussed it I’ll discuss another movie. The movie that is the next most powerful story I know is called “The Fantasia Barrino Story: Life Is Not a Fairy Tale.” Most of you probably have seen it before, if not you probably remember Fantasia Barrino whom was the winner of American Idol: Season 3. When Fantasia Barrino was in high school she was raped, she felt so alone after the attack and thought no one would believe her so she dropped out of school. Now Fantasia was a teenage dropout who had no money, no education and no chance at a real future. At 16, Fantasia found herself in an abusive relationship that left her pregnant and lost. But she refused to give up on her dreams. This movie tells how this inspiring young single mom used her incredible voice to become an American Idol, as well as a Grammy®-nominated, platinum-selling recording artist. This movie was very emotional because when the movie got towards the middle I was crying my eyes out. This movie has made Fantasia Barrino my idol and it had a really huge impact on me because my story is similar to hers so I can relate. The author of this movie had an effect of her audience by the way the movie was interesting from beginning to the end. Another way is because this movie is very encouraging to young women and even some men too. In my narrative next week I would like to write about never giving up on your dreams.…

“The Boat” written by Alistair MacLeod tells a story about a father’s life and how he lived as a fisherman. The narrator is an adult man who looks back on his life of when his father was still living because even though he got a university education, he now wants the life his father had. He expresses how his father always wanted him to become something bigger and better then what he became. The author, Alistair MacLeod, used many different writing techniques within this short story. The symbolism of “The Boat” expresses inevitability through the little hobbies the father/husband does through his boring routine life, obligation through the father/husband’s commitment as a fisherman to provide for his family, and imprisonment through his life as a fisherman even though he always wanted a university education.…
