Upon careful reflection, I realised that I assumed that all children could find the sticks by themselves or with the help of their peers, which means that I did not anticipate a situation where some children may not be able to find a stick. I should have thought about this situation when I did my planning. When the little boy cried and the mother came to ask for the hint, I should encourage the boy to work with his peers, ask him to think of some possible places that I could hide the sticks and be persistent in the activity. Rather than let the mother to get involved, the boy would have an opportunity to learn how to solve the problem and cooperate with peers, so that the learning outcome could be achieved. Meanwhile, it would be fair for other children as they also had difficulties in finding the sticks at the beginning, I encouraged them to be patient and work with others instead of giving hints to them. My future practice can be informed as I can “view my practice in new ways” (Tripp, 2012, p.12). By writing the critical incident, I realise that when I anticipate children’s experience of the activity, I should think of several possible situations that may occur and the possible reasons that may hinder children to achieve the learning outcomes. Accordingly, my experience plan
