Fired: A Short Story
It was a cold spring day in the big city of Valcester, Nevada when my boss called me up to his office.
“You're Fired.”
So many thoughts were running through my head.
“How could this happen” I pondered , shaking, his words left the same feeling of silence after a bullet has just been shot. “What did I do wrong?” I couldn't wrap his words around my head. “Kevin, did you hear me? You're fired” my boss uttered without a sense of remorse “But boss! What did I do, I’ve solved many cases all through my career , why are you firing me?!” “You know exactly what this is about Kevin, stealing information...what is wrong with you?!”
“I have no idea what you're talking about! I didn't do anything!” I pleaded innocent, but he wasn't listening
“Collect your things and leave Kevin you no longer work for the FBI”

After I collected my thoughts of the situation that just happened, I contacted my ex co-worker, Sasha. We worked together all the 17 years i've been there. I trusted her so she was the first person I reached to after I was fired.
“I just don’t understand what happened” I explained to Sasha everything that happened that afternoon.
“We should get to the bottom of this!” suggested Sasha
“I don't know….”
“Think about it! One last mission” argued Sasha
“Well...ok, let's do

In Deborah Tannen’s article “Conversational Styles: Talking on the Job,” she discusses the differences in communicational styles between men and women and how they differ. In this article Tannen presents a few examples of how men and women approach certain situations and how each style has its advantages and disadvantages. Including how some men won’t ask for directions even if they are lost, meanwhile women will ask for help when they are in need. In my experience women tend to be more social, well-mannered, and expressive. While men on the other hand tend to be more prideful and dominating, this is not true in all cases.…
