The history of fireworks goes back to the Chinese Han dynasty, estimated around 200 B.C. It is first believed that original firework was a ‘firecracker’ that was made of chunks of green bamboo, which someone may have thrown onto a fire when wood became low. The rods hissed and after a while unexpectedly exploded. This phenomenon led to human fascination to recreate this experiment which ultimate led to the development of gun powder. Roger Bacon, a Franciscan monk, became one of the first Europeans to study gunpowder as well as publish it. He revealed that saltpeter was the force behind the alarming sound of firecrackers and discovered a way of purifying the natural mineral. His favorite material to harvest was charcoal, from which he had taken from the remains of a willow tree. As his publication grew, societies adopted fireworks into future traditions. Around the 1600s, settlers brought fireworks over to the Americas, where they continued to be used to celebrate special occasions. The very first 4th of July celebration was in 1777, only one year after the signing of the Declaration of Independence.…

This article tells about how many people in Colorado had been evacuated due to the raging wildfires that have been happening. I personally live in the Denver area and we have not had any wildfires down here. Unfortunately due to the dry weather we were not able to light any of our own fireworks for the 3rd year in a row. The fires have gotten so bad that the flames engulfed a group of firefighters trying to put out the fires and 19 of the group had lost their lives. The heavy rains that we have gotten over the past weeks have helped a lot with putting out the fires. Going back to the fireworks, we were still able to enjoy our 4th of July fireworks at the usual firework shows. We still had a very fun 4th of July without being pyros ourselves.…

Many cities across the United States have interesting nicknames given to them by their inhabitants, based on what makes those specific cities special. New Castle, Pennsylvania, the county seat, is known as “The Fireworks Capital of America.” This is because Lawrence County was once the largest producer of fireworks in the world, thanks to two large fireworks companies that began here. In 1893, Antonio Zambelli travelled from Italy to Western Pennsylvania to start his business. He quickly became successful, and today, Zambelli Fireworks Internationale is still family owned, and continues to produce fireworks worldwide. In 1922, Constantino Vitale also ventured from Italy, and settled in New Castle to start his fireworks business “Pyrotechnico.”…

assive smoke is when non-smokers are breathing in the smoke that a smoker is smoking. Passive smoking is not good, because non-smokers breathe it in, as well as the smoker, and it is very harmful for the non-smokers as well as the smoker. It is also a huge source of indoor air pollution. Four-fifths of the smoke that builds up in a room with a smoker is the more harmful "sidestream" type. Tobacco smoke has over 4,000 chemical compounds, which includes 40 carcinogenic agents that are cancer-causing. Tobacco smoke also has carbon monoxide, which is a poisonous gas, that inhibits the transportation of someone's oxygen to their body's vital organs via the blood. Also, the smoke that is emitted from the tip of a cigarette has almost double the concentration…

13). These devices, such as those used by Eric Rudolph in the 1997 bombing of a Georgia abortion clinic (CNN Library, 2016), are designed and implemented in such a way that they explode after first responders have arrived, and are actively attending to injured and traumatized people. These explosives can be placed in plain sight, or hidden near assumed staging areas, as a means of inflicting maximum damage, consistent with these decimation style attacks. In addition to substantially more potential human casualties, these explosive devices can cause more property damage, if located near buildings, emergency vehicles, and the…
