My First Cricket Game
Cricket is the second most popular game in the world after soccer. Cricket is older than baseball and football. Cricket was seen played by two brothers first in England. Cricket is my favorite sport. When I was in 8th grade I played my first state level cricket match. At that time my coach underestimated me and put me as a 12th player in the game as fielder on Long off position which is equal too right fielder in the game of baseball but not as a hitter which I am really good at. There are 11 players in the team and 2 hitters. In cricket pitching means bowling and hitting means bating.
Toss time, we were in the dressing room preparing for our captain to send message about what we have to do, first bowling or batting. We lost the toss and opposing team choose to bat first so it’s our time to field first. As we marched into the field we saw huge crowd watching us. I was really nervous because this my first state level game. It was 20 overs match which means 6 times pitching per over match so it only took our team 95 mins to complete first innings.
As soon as, our innings got over its time to start second innings now it’s our time to bat and I was really excited and nervous at the same time. But I was 3 down in the queue which means I can only bat once 3 players got out by opposing team. Because of my excellent performance in fielding and catching balls at my position, my coach decided to put me as a 3 down in batting order. Now, 2nd innings began and we had to make 182 runs in 20 overs to win the game, which means our team has 10 outs and have score 182 runs in 120 pitches. Our strike batsmen were on the crease and they score 45 runs in 5 overs (30 pitches) where our first wicket was taken out by opposing team which means it’s 1 out now and 9 left. Then it’s second down turn their score was 88 runs in 10 overs (60 pitches) and another wicket was taking out. This two partnerships helping us to chase 182 runs target.
