Initially, there will be four applications available. First, a Clinical Decision Tool (CDS), this will allow physicians and nurses to access the CDS from any location in or out of the hospital. Second, the Physician’s Drug Reference (PDR) and the Nurses Drug book will be accessible through the VPN into the cloud. Lastly, and perhaps most important, will be the HIPAA-compliant messaging system (Williams, 2015). This messaging system will allow nurses to quickly reach a physician, negating the need for overhead paging and waiting for the physician to find an in-house phone to dial an extension. This ability will improve communication and collaboration between clinical staff (Williams,2015). Both standard and professional users will be able to access the human resources application. This will allow staff to easily and quickly submit vacation requests, change tax information, upload a training certificate to their file, and so much more.
