In today’s society it is a common act to just ignore what is going on around. The people are too involved in themselves and their own lives rather than what might be wrong in others. If an issue does not directly affect the individual they tend to pay it no mind and continue on with their day. Though people are taught to keep away from situations that do not concern them this can often be a negative way of approaching many global issues such as genocide. Genocide is the gruesome act of killing specific large groups of people. This has been going on for centuries and will continue to go on as long as people keep looking the other way. These reasons include hate, discrimination, the need for control, and closed mindedness. Out of all the reasons there is one other that is more prominent than the others, this is the people’s choice to let it happen. Everyone has a voice that matters but when one sits back and does not take advantage of their influence they allow heinous things to occur. In a society it is the peoples job to stand up for what is right in order to keep things under control.
