Fitzgerald's Use Of The Green Light In The Great Gatsby
In order to present Gatsby’s character advancement and his impossible dream, Fitzgerald employs the symbol of the green light to show Gatsby’s American dream. He places this symbol in the novel to show how dreams may not be as good as they seem. It also portrays how dreams can be held back by status. What Fitzgerald is implying can be connected to modern day. Dreams can be achieved easily these days but class will always be a factor, along with the feeling of disappoint once the dream is reached. Fitzgerald uses the symbol of the green light to portray the importance of the American dream and its impact.
