The second adjustment I see promise in is raising the monthly SMI in Medicare from roughly $30 to $40. This is still very reasonable given that in present day society prices have risen and this monthly charge can reasonably be expected to reflect that. This charge will still prove to be a very comparable rate. Although a small change for recipients this will mean a larger inflow of funds for the program.
Finally promoting health education would be very beneficial to the preservation of these funds. This can be achieved by promoting a more health conscious society. This can include adding many more health education programs to our schools. We can also gear those programs already in place towards teaching healthy habits both in the playground as well as in the kitchen. This preventative measure will yield less health costs for our society as a whole.
3. Finally, identify at least 1 way that an individual might help facilitate positive change with this social problem. Be specific.
An individual can help promote change by taking care of him/herself. This includes prioritizing regular doctor check ups and leading a healthy lifestyle. It is crucial that as a society we begin to look at the measures we can take to prevent needing medical attention for avoidable conditions. This will allow us to stop solely worrying about how to finance treatments. The best measure an individual can take is changing their lifestyle to a healthy one.
