Flanagan Moral Particularity Summary

Flanagan Geography discusses the idea "moral particularities" in the context of Moral Particularities and The Content of Character. Overall, "moral particularities" states that " moral problems of life vary with age and circumstance, but they are mostly like these-matters of tender mercies, love, attention, honesty, conscientiousness, guarding against projection, taming reactive emotions, deflating ego, and self-cultivation (10)." In the beginning, this seemed to be more profiling on status and judging how people are being described. Therefore, when we improve the way we act then it will better our way of acting more less as a self-egoistic person or a jerk.
However, Flanagan explains different scenarios in getting moral particularities out there for people to see how problematic in some cases that ethics plays a role. In order knowing if you are doing something right or wrong depends on the person's virtue. You can't really say that everyone has the view in doing one thing is the correct way.
At work I am completely different since I tend to be talkative, however sometimes having a hard time to actually talk to certain colleagues because of knowing what is appropriate and not. Although, my parents taught me well with morals there some factors outside of home tend to change that when hanging out with friends. At the end of this semester, I will be able to use what I learn from this reading and improve my ways. However, after reading " moral particularities" I will try applying this lesson to my daily life since if you learn something why not just apply it as well. In taking small steps it will surely improve my standard in having better morals in making everyone around you feel safe and not harm will be
