It was fireproof.“ The owner was not concerned about the people inside but was more concerned about the fireproofing on the walls and floors. Paragraph 2 states,”Cutters flung buckets of water at the smoking spot.” They had nothing to defend themselves but buckets of water that they have to refill. Due to lack of fire protection the fire started. Workers on the 9th floor had to doors lock. Which meant they had to jump off windows to escape and long and painful death. In paragraph 13 it says,” A young man appeared at a window. Gently, he helped a young woman step onto the windowsill, held her away from the building—and let go. He helped another young woman onto the windowsill.” Sentence is saddening. This young man help two girls escape from a long and painful death due to the owner.
