The flight commander should be aware of what is expected of them an also be able to complete their duties. They also need to be aware of their subordinates an keep track of their accomplishments in the cadet program. 3. Overview of Requirements

Interview any leader on the subject of “taking charge.” Report what u have learned from the interview in the SDA report and in a 3-5 minute speech to cadets in your unit. See attachment one. I made my oral briefing to the Cyberpatriot team on the 19 of September 2013. Major Staple observed.

List five common uniform discrepancies and explain what the correct standard actually is. Reference the appropriate CAP regulation and paragraph. During many inspections I have noticed that cadet will space their insignia incorrectly. Even though in CAPM 39-1 it states that insignia is to be worn centered, 1inch from the bottom of the collar an parallel. Cadets that attend encampments tend to wear their wing patches lower than CAPM 39-1 one states. In CAPM 39-1 is says that the wing patch is to be worn 1/2inch and centered below the shoulder seam.

3. At special activities I notice cadets wearing Model Rocketry Patches on their BDU's. The cadets I have noticed wear them on the left breast pocket, but that is incorrect. The model rocketry patch is not a specialty an is to be worn on the right breast pocket. 4. During encampment I had noticed during inspection that some cadets had their squadron patches placed wrong on the right breast pocket. Any patches placed on the breast pockets are to be worn completely centered on all sides if they are correct with CAPM 39-1.

5. During encampment staff selections I noticed that some cadets were wearing a silver star

    When Washington assumed the role as Commander in Chief of the fledgling Continental Army in 1775, it had adopted the British model of organization. There were basically four enlisted grades, sergeants, corporal, musicians and privates. The musicians were fifers and drummers, who of course directed the linear movements of the Army. If the sergeants, corporals and privates were the combatants, it could be a stretch to argue that those musicians were the Army’s first “specialists.” Though no special rank insignia signified enlisted soldiers of that era, Washington directed that sergeants and corporals would wear epaulettes sewn on their right shoulder, red for sergeants and green for corporals. During the winter of 1776-1777, Washington ordered the establishment of three artillery regiments. In the Army’s 1967 comprehensive Enlisted Grade Structure Study noted, “Artillerymen were recognized as specialists from the start and were given higher pay than Infantryman.” It also noted a need for other “specialists” in the enlisted ranks to perform certain technical skills for the artillery. During this period service and support tasks were typically performed by civilians or detailed enlisted soldiers from the line. When Gen Washington ordered the formation of three artillery regiments, he directed one regiment to be “artificers” to be employed in performing “essential specialist services” for the other two. These men were to be later known as “enlisted men of Ordnance” instead of artillerymen. The artificers included carpenters, blacksmiths, wheelwrights, turners, tinmen, harness makers and farriers. In 1777 the Congress noted the need for a “slightly different organization” in providing a regiment of Cavalry. The regimental staff was organized with a saddler, and a trumpet major, and each company had a trumpeter and a farrier.     The US Army 670-1 is the basis for the wear and appearance of all military uniforms to include ACU , BDU, DCU, ASU, and all PT uniforms. It was formed so that all soldiers wear the uniform the same to instill discipline and a professional appearance. This regulation applies to officers and enlisted the same. It was formed to give the exact dimensions for badges tabs patches and rank. The proponent of this regulation is the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-1. The proponent has the authority to approve exceptions or waivers to this regulation that are consistent with controlling law and regulations. The proponent may delegate this approval authority, in writing, to a division chief within the proponent agency or its direct reporting unit or field operating agency, in the grade of colonel or the civilian equivalent. Activities may request a waiver to this regulation to this regulation by providing justification that includes a full analysis of the expected benefits and must include formal review by the activity’s senior legal officer. All waiver requests will be endorsed by the commander or senior leader of the requesting activity and forwarded through their higher headquarters to the policy proponent. Refer to AR 25-30 for specific guidance. As stated there in the beginning of the 670-1 there is only a few people that actually have the power to change or alter the uniform. So the big things looked for in uniform discrepancies is lopsided rank or badges, gaps in the badges to the army patch. And all ribbons are in order. We have these rules to keep the public view and the universal view of our army as professional and not a group of missfits. A sense of pride should be in every soldier as to how they where there uniform which today soldiers tend to wear the uniform however they please with no corrections or actions taken by those appointed over them.
