Critique
The novel “Flip” by Martyn Bedford in my opinion wasn’t a very good book but he did some good things. I found that he told us the readers a lot about Alex the main Character like his interests, family, former life, by to himself and his friends. Also in this book it says it took place in England but even if I didn’t tell you still probably should of figured it out from the slang they use like “Was a woman who wasn’t him mum chivvying him off to school”(Bedford 12). With these positives there has to be some things he could have done better on. For example I found that some of the other characters …show more content…
Also this book never captivated me and I constantly felt my mind drifting away from the text and thinking of other things. Even though I was able to sometimes relate with Alex it wasn’t enough to keep me focused on the book. Personally I thought the book jumped around a lot but that could be just me cause I don’t read that often. I don’t believe this is a work of art because of all the things the author did wrong to make this not a very good book. Overall all I did not enjoy this book.
What is your overall reaction to this text? My overall reaction to this book is I was disappointed because I heard that this was a good book. I would maybe read something else from this author because this is a cool concept for a book I just don’t think it was executed properly. I think this author has good and interesting ideas. I would recommend this book to someone around my age that enjoys reading. Through all the negative thinks I have said about this book there has been one line that has stuck with me “That’s what I wanted to show you… me.
