The book I am reading is called Flush by Carl Hiaasen. The story is about two kids trying to help out their father that has a temper issue. Before the story started, the father was arrested by trying to sink a casino that was on the sea. The reason why he did that was because the owner of the casino was throwing garbage and polluting the sea way too much and not even cleaning it up. When the father was in jail, his dad Bobby was taking care of his grandchildren Noah and Abbey. Abbey knew what his father did was wrong be she knows what the owner of the casino is doing is even more wrong. After a fishing trip Abbey was found missing for the night.     Scat is a mystery book, taking place in Florida, of a missing teacher named Mrs. Starch, and two of her students, Nick and Marta, do whatever they can to find her. The novel starts in biology class. A biology teacher, Mrs. Starch, asks a question about the Calvin cycle, which a girl named Libby wants to answer. Mrs. Starch is very strict and mean. Instead she calls on Smoke to answer the question, who then eats part of Mrs. Starch’s pencil. He then is required to write a 500 word essay. The next day, the students go on a trip to Black Vine Swamp. Nick and Marta record something when they hear a sound. A fire then starts and Mrs. Starch goes into the forest to get Libby's asthma medicine. Mrs. Starch then disappears the next day, and some detectives talk to the students. The detectives assume that Smoke is behind her disappearance, as he has a police record of unlawful use of fire. Also, Smoke, is usually dirty, mean and gets bad grades, which then changes into the exact opposite. But, sometimes, he skips class. Mrs. Starch also leaves notes saying that she has a family emergency, which is strange, because she did not have any family members in her paperwork.
