After said events Vonnegut moved from Cape Cod to New York City, fell into a deep depression, becoming withdrawn and developing a writer’s block. Vonnegut wrote two books in the mid 70’s Slapstick and Breakfast of Champions, both having themes of family disintegration. These books helped Vonnegut to move past lingering emotional problems he had dealt with since childhood.
