What is the mission of the organization ? To help end hunger in Eastern Massachusetts
If it is a Nutrition/Food Program (i.e. Food Bank), what need does it fulfill or address ? To provide healthy food choice to those seeking food assistance. Also to measure to nutrient quality of our inventory, provide nutrition education, and communicate of good nutrition to our donors and member agencies
Who provides the organizations funding and/or operational resources ? They acquire food in many ways--food industry product donations, corporate and group food drives, individual food donations, and financial contributionsthat enable us to buy even more food. The contents of the webiste are included the history of organization, the hunger study, advocate, programs, news, events, and information to become a member agency. The website directed toward to anybody including donor, voleenter, residents, ect.
How might you or another nutrition professional integrate the services of this organization into your professional practice ? It's a good resource to make referral for low income families who may have trouble to buy nurtition foods.
What else did you learn by visiting this site ? Every year, during thanksgiving they will distrubute over 38,000+ turkeys. to over 600 member agencies. The goal set by the food bank this year was to distrubute out 40,000 turkeys along with all the fixings for a traditional Thanksgiving meal.
