In response to them I say that bigger government is hardly ever really the answer. A bigger government typically means more programs and more benefits, as you mentioned, which means more money from the citizens and more taxes. An increase in taxes is not always the most favored idea of citizens, and is often voted against. However, we are trying to decrease the number of food insecure citizens, and everyone is required to pay taxes. A tax increase would affect all, including those that are food insecure. An increase in taxes would only add on to the many other factors and symptoms that contribute to the lives of food insecure individuals. This could lead to many different responses of various
