Food Preparation
Food has become easier to prepare. Has this change improved the way people live? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
Of course, nowadays food has become more easier to prepare. Think about microwave-ovens, mixture, grinding machine, rice-cooker,pressure cooker,I think you already got the answer, right? In my point of view, the improvement of food preparing has obviously changed our lifestyle in a better way.
These days, people need not use effort, every things are kept in frozen, they are already chopped, canned. People only need to bring them home and cook within 10-20 minute and start serving. Consequently, in this 21st century new technology has made people's life convenient in preparing food, thus those canned food can’t taste the same as fresh and original food. One benefit is that now preparing food takes less time than in the past as there are many precooked food which save our time. For instance, it is very easy to prepare noodle as people should put it into a bowl then pour boiled water and wait about five minutes to have a meal. Busy people are often the consumers of this type of food. Also, now people have refrigerators to save food and microwaves in order to heat cold meals.
On the other hand, precooked and fast food cause harm to our health. Many companies which produce this type of food are said to have used chemicals. Chemicals help to keep food fresh for a long time or make it delicious and appetizing but they can cause obesity for human beings.
To put it in a nutshell, in my opinion I support the idea that the change in food preparing has made our life a lot easier, and we can have more time to pursue our dreams, spend it with your family and other purposes rather than stuck up in the kitchen trying for hours to serve a great meal.

Eating a meal in 2050 will not change that much, but the way we order the food will. The entire table will be one big touch screen where you can see an interactive menu. The table will greet you as you sit down and offers everyone a drink. After a moment or two it asks if you’re ready to place your order. A server will bring you the food and clean the table. Due to all of the food allergies that are surfacing, food will be prepped in a completely different way. Just like our Xerox printer works mixing primary colors to make purple a food prep machine will be used to prepare meals for consistency and expediency. In the home, working parents will be able to use such machines to prepare nutritious meals without wasting time in the kitchen on extremely busy days.…

The introduction to processed foods took the world by storm, with quicker food preparation, less time spent cleaning, drive-thru access and the introduction to new recipes. Long before processed foods such as the Twinkie, Honey bun, Spam, frozen dinners, milk, etc; people consumed more wholesome foods naturally loaded with nutrients the human body needed to sustain itself. Processed foods did not exist until the early 19th Century and have since become highly advertised and subsidized by the government. Whole foods on the other hand receive little advertisement and no government subsidies, leading people away from choosing a healthier lifestyle. I believe that processed foods may perhaps taste, look and smell better than their natural whole food counterpart does, yet can you really afford to risk your health for the sake of being happy you had the ability to choose your meal?…

What we eat nowadays is heavily affected by social context and what we eat by ourselves and when were with others, usually when we eat with others we head out to the town to find a restaurant or bar. This article explains how the discovery in cooking foods has dramatically changed the way we live, and the amount of time freed up by spending less time chewing. Raw food takes much longer to eat than soft cooked foods. The discovery of cooking changed our social division of labor between men and women. The Hadza tribes are foragers; hunters and gathers, and now that cooking food is possible, the men hunt for meat, while the women forage the land for anything edible. When the men come back to the village, the women hope they have meat or honey to provide, but if they come empty handed, the women have the food they have gathered already prepared for the hungry men. The men and women share their food with one another, their children, and extended family. Even though my family and I are not foragers, this sounds very similar to the same way I was brought up. My father would make the money that paid for the food, while my mother would stay home to raise us children and cook. She always had dinner ready for my father whether he was coming home from work or home after looking for a job. Either way, we always had food on our table. There were even summers that we had to pick fruit with my mother on farmers land so we can have canned fruit stock our pantry. We would forage in the fall walnuts that have fallen off a walnut tree on the side of some road, so she can make banana nut bread. As a child I was put to work on several occasions to help my mother, and that was not the same way my brothers were raised, they would be allowed to go hunting or fishing with my father. Even though my family and I are not foragers we have a lot of similarities with the Hadza tribe and how they divide their labor based upon gender and age.…

Therefore, I believe nutrition should be more vital in the lives of today’s families. However, the way of life has caused many families to spend less time together at a dinner table. They are left to rely on fast food such as McDonalds and Wendy’s. This country places no importance on nutrition because we are now one of the most obese countries in the world. People don’t find it important until they go to the doctor and get bad news about their healthy. Let’s be realistic what taste good is what’s bad for you. Not many of us would make that change of eating healthy. Today’s family will be less likely to eat healthy because the cost of eating healthy cost more. Also depending on the area you live in. More urban areas will have more fresh food which will be easier to access them. Unlike in certain areas that have McDonalds on every block. Sometimes it’s the resource or helpful…

Food has come a long way. From being something necessary for survival, to something that some people do simply for enjoyment or even as a pastime. It's no secret that each and every civilization throughout history has built villages, cultures, empires and even religious views on and around food. So, what is the impact? How does it shape where we are now, and, more importantly, how will it shape the future. With today's high demands for variety, quality, rarity, and most important of all, affordability. What is the true impact on not only humanity but the environment. Can we predict how our consumption of highly processed foods will shape out future? It's always important to look back at history and determine the mistakes that were made in hopes that we don't repeat them.…

    The Cooking animal

Michael Pollan’s article The Cooking Animal, describes the decline of home cooked meals and its effects. Cooking, he says, is what separates us from animals. It’s how we became civilized. By making us come together and share food, we learn about each other and ourselves. Although its importance, cooking is rapidly declining in modern times. What was once a daily ritual is now becoming a special occasion. Replacing cooking is convenient, yet horribly unhealthy, processed foods thus worsening the already increasing obesity problem. ”The more time a nation devotes to food preparation at home, the lower its rate of obesity” (Pollan 583). Pollan explains the importance of home cooked meals and it’s correlation with obesity and how we have fallen in the trap of the corporations. He explains how the mass producers made hard to make meals cheap, processed, and convenient leaving us to be forever doomed unless we made dire changes. Pollen raises many thoughts and facts about the importance of home cooked meals, all of which I completely agree with.…
