In my assignment I will be discussing the role of energy in the body providing a clear analysis of how the three body systems (digestive, respiration and cardiovascular) interrelate to produce energy.
Energy is the capacity for matter and radiation to work.
Energy comes in many forms, such as chemical energy, light energy and mechanical energy. But all forms of energy can be considered one of two types
(1) Kinetic energy
(2)Potential energy
Potential energy is energy associated with matter due to its position, such as the energy stored in a battery or in a person before they move. Kinetic energy is associated with matter in motion. Basically it is the energy of movement. This type of energy does work that alters the state of motion of matter it can exist in the form of heat, light, electric and mechanical energy among others
Energy can exist in several forms. Chemical energy is the most common form. The energy is in the chemical bond which unites atoms or molecules to each other. When a new bond is made between two atoms, energy is required for its formation and usually in the form of heat although light and electrical energy can be used. When a bond is broken and atoms are released so it energy of that bond. Heat, light, sound, electrical and nuclear are other forms of energy.
Energy metabolism is the sum of all the chemical reactions occurring in the human body and theses will involve using or releasing energy from chemical substances.
Energy is also necessary to circulate blood, lymph and tissue fluid throughout the body it is necessary for breathing and taking in oxygen it is necessary for making new cells for carrying out growth and repair it is used to transmit nerve impulses so that we can respond
