Republicans are encouraging to decrease benefits that people can avail from it, while Democrats completely disagree on that viewpoint. Well the two agencies that I looked up where food stamps (FI) and Medicaid. They are just about the same but they only go if you need them. If you have a low income family then you can get them both. But you have to make it on the charts. They go by the amount of money that you make and how many kids you have too. But you don’t have to have kids to get food stamps or Medicaid. These groups meet the needs of all the people but Medicaid only goes to the people that are older or have kids that are under the age 18 years old. The way I have found that they have made for the people is that they give people food in there house or they make sure that they have the health care that they need to live longer or even just get checked out for a cold. I think that the biggest challenges that they face…

The Food Stamp Act was created in 1964 by President Lyndon Johnson. Its primary goal was to provide easy access to food for Citizens with low income, because there were many problems with low weight, anemia and osteoporosis. After having it amended a couple times it was then extended to children and to retirees over 64. The policy is intended to help people who are homeless, low income and legal immigrants. The Food Stamp Act really affects people like immigrants with U.S citizen children, and others who cannot afford to pay for groceries. According to an article on Buzzle, some of the pros of this policy are the opportunity to provide food for those who are in need. Another benefit of the program is that it has…

The social policy that I want to talk about is food stamps known as EBT, because I find myself irritated with what I see basically everyday being a cashier at a grocery store. Now before I start talking about all my negatives I have to say with this program I do realize there are people who truly do need government help and support in some situations, and I believe in them receiving it. Right off the bat my biggest issue with EBT is it’s given out by the government with hardly any restrictions such as people are able to buy basically anything they want in a grocery store other than alcohol or tobacco. The fact that people can buy anything they want, when me and other middle class people wouldn’t even splurge on half the items they do, such as $15-$100 in steaks for one…

During the Great Depression programs such as, social security, and pensions did not exist. Frank Delano Roosevelt created Welfare reform for older Americans. The depression made it necessary for means to assist the poor. As well as welfare programs FDR created the NRA, WPA, and PWA. The idea of Social Security is that employers and employees would contribute to a pension fund. Another name for Social security is called a “transfer program”. Younger generations are transferring income to the older generation. In return the younger generation will hopefully be rewarded income by the generation after them. This fund is payable upon retirements. Social security was a secure and guaranteeing way to aid older citizens. Social security has allowed the retirees to live longer and in better care.…

Homeless have no way to prepare food, therefore this would enable them to have a hot meal. Elderly may not be able to prepare foods at home due to the disadvantages of their age. Disable people may not be able to reach the stove in order to prepare their meals. Because of limitations from their disability. Every situation is different, so it is better to have something to eat rather than do without because they have to go to a restaurant rather than a grocery store. They should be able to use their food stamps…

However, if we are able to reach some of those that are living in poverty or just above the poverty line the program has succeeded for many. SNAP helps the poorest of Americans: almost 90% of SNAP households live below the poverty line, and about 40% of SNAP households have incomes less than half of the poverty line (approximately $9,155 for a family of three) (SNAP to health). It also makes a huge impact on children that are in severe poverty and at risk for malnutrition. In order to be productive people need to be able to meet their nutritional needs they also need to be able to keep from becoming sick. According to the White House report on the benefits of SNAP, in 2014, 44 percent of all SNAP households were households with children.…

With the number of recipients being extremely high, a loss of benefits could devastate families in the America. The logic of the Republicans is that the loss of benefits supplied through the food stamp program will encourage people to find jobs and take care of themselves. The Democrats believe that people want to take care of themselves, but sometimes circumstances prevent them from being successful and the food stamp program is used for people that really need it. There are truths to both parties’ ideas. There are some people that use the government as a means of surviving instead of finding work. There are also some people, as well as, companies that use food stamps as a way to commit fraud by using food stamps to gain actual money. However, the majority of recipients are only on food stamps temporarily. Most recipients receive benefits for less than one year at a time. If benefits are lost, increases in malnutrition are likely to occur. People are inclined to resort to illegal if they see no means to feeding their families which will result in an increase in the crime rate. Food insecurity can lead to depression and potentially a society of mentally unstable individuals. The hope is that reducing and/or eliminating benefits will stimulate the economy with the working class, but there is no actual proof that will happen. Analysts can only estimate the…
