Quite possibly the most significant time of my life was during my senior year as part of the Edison High School football team. The story of our 2006 season is a reflection of my life and testimony to my beliefs and values. Underdogs from day one, we represented not only our school, but also our community and families. Early expectations of the 2006 Eagles were low and the surrounding community was under the belief that Edison would be lucky to go 6-4 with the inexperienced players and the loss of such a talented senior class. Suddenly, I was starting as the outside linebacker/defensive end for the first time in my career along with 18 brand new starters. Unexpectedly, a green group of replacements were 5-0, half-way through our season. After…
As stated in my career timeline, my goal is to become an athletic director for a high school. I believe this job will provide myself with personal fulfillment that I would not achieve anywhere else. For this interview I reached out to a family friend that personally knows the interim athletic director at Gordon State College, Gary Sharpe. Before holding his current position, Mr. Sharpe spent ten years as an assistant baseball coach for Gordon State College. Prior to his collegiate career he served as the head baseball coach for Upson-Lee and coordinator for the Georgia Dugout All-Star Games. Needless to say that Mr. Sharpe has crucial sport management experience from working at the collegiate and high school levels.…
The NFL is a man’s world where each and every man is out on the field to show off his athleticism. Every aspect of the game, whether it is on the field or on the side lines, is predominately male. However, there is an area of the NFL that women could become a part of. Women could become athletic trainers for the NFL. An athletic trainer is a health care specialist that focuses on prevention of injury and rehab to recuperate athletes (Summary). Currently there are no women employed in the NFL although one woman used to work for the Pittsburgh Steelers (Mihoces). There are many people that agree that women should be able to work in the NFL, but there are also many people that do not believe women belong in the NFL.…
Between 2013-2015, the Chip Kelly era of Philadelphia Eagles football was known for two things: uptempo offense and poor roster management. While the uptempo offense was fun in Kelly's first year as Eagles head coach. It was only successful thanks to Andy Reid's players (Nick Foles, DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin, LeSean McCoy).…
In the early days of July of 2016 I was getting ready for soccer tryouts at Union High School. I was running every day in the morning and at night and I was also working on all of my ball skills at the high school during the afternoon with my two friends that I ran with everyday.…
Dttls This paper will address an observation undertaken on an experienced tutor within the football coaching field ( refer to page 8-10). The assignment will include a reflective account of the process, including an action plan from a planned observation. In light of this, it is my responsibility to ensure that the person being observed is aware of the purpose of the observation and of any particular focus. This was discussed informally in advance of the observation. Observers are expected to plan for the observation by reading any paperwork given in advance and familiarising themselves with the class to be observed.…
Collegiate football is a rapidly growing business that influences culture, participants and spectators. The role of National College Athletic Association (NCAA) is to ensure that all teams follow the instructions of the game and hold high standards of established moral and ethical code of conduct and ethics. NCCA failed to prevent the scandals at the University of Arkansas, Ohio State, and Penn State (Ferrell & Fraedrich, 2016). In Penn state, NCAA failed to protect the interest of all the stakeholders and the misconduct that occurred of sexual assaults of eight young boys for many years by a former assistant coach. In Ohio state scandal, NCAA were not aware for nine months for student athletes and subsequent cover by the coach for receiving benefits and supply for cash and tattoos. In University of Arkansa, NCAA failed to notice early the questionable behaviors of coach Petrino who had conflict of interest that he did not disclose and the university favored winning games over ethical behavior (Ferrell & Fraedrich, 2016).…
Station Camp was five yards from the end zone when our defense flattened the running back, sending the football to the hands of the tackler. Our defense scored on that play to win the game 26-20 in overtime. The tumultuous crowd became so loud, we couldn't hear each other on the field; but truthfully, we did not need to speak. Who we were spoke so loudly that we did not need to hear each other. Numerous predictions claimed we should have lost that game alongside our already fearful fans. After losing nineteen talented starters in the class above us, an immense void was left to fill by few seniors. So why did we keep playing? The answer is that the visceral integrity ingrained within us would never allow us cease believing in ourselves and let adversity control the outcome of the game.…
When we were children, our mothers and fathers would take care of us, whatever we needed they found a way to get it. They were out support beams, our shoulders to cry on, and our correction officers when we were in the wrong. They were also the ones we ran to when we had our scars and bumps. We knew that they would give us the right things to make us feel better. When we get older we begin to make more risky decisions, and sometimes those become bad decisions, possibly ending in injury.…
As a four sport athlete (football, hockey, baseball, and track), I have endured my ups and downs with sports teams, but nothing compares to the adversity, leadership, and courage I had to muster up in the 2015 football season. The 2015 season looked bright for the hilltoppers, coming off three successful seasons, where I started and helped our football team win many games. I was a co-captain my Junior year and all-conference, so I was really looking forward to taking the reigns and becoming the true leader of our football team. However, the season was a disaster on paper at best. We went 0-9 and competed at a high level in 3 of those games. The day of our fourth football game, only 30 minutes prior to getting on the bus, my stomach started…
American football as we know it originated from rugby played in Britain in the mid-19th century. The person who Americans consider the “Father of American Football” is Walter Camp. Professional football can be traced back to 1982, when there was a $500 contract for the Allegheny Athletic Association and the Pittsburgh Athletic Club to play a game against each other. Originally football was primarily a sport of the Midwestern industrial towns in the United State. In 1902, the American Professional Football Association was formed and two years later the National Football League. The competition was fierce between the two leagues, which led the two leagues to merge. Football eventually became national. When the two leagues merged is when…

Good Evening Mr. Forrest, this is Sean Anderson. I wanted to send this report involving the girl's basketball coach from Northeast Middle School. Me and Jason Collins were the officials at West Creek Middle School vs Northeast Middle School. The games started at 4:45. During the second game, which was the girl's basketball game, my partner Jason Collins made a ruling against Northeast in the 4th quarter. The girl's head coach did not like the ruling and venting her frustrations toward us. She screamed" her player was not there for the foul". While I was administering the free throws I heard her screaming and gave her the stop sign signal and told her ok that's enough. I didn't administer no technical foul even though she continue…
