Football has a huge fan base in the United States but soccer is slowly catching up. Football and soccer have many similarities while they also have multiple differences. The similarities in soccer and football lay in the rules and regulations of the games. The differences lie in skillsets needed to play and the amount of player contact each game allows.
Football and soccer have some similarities between them. For, starters both use a sort of ball to score points. For an example soccer requires footwork, agility and quick thinking while football requires players to be muscular, fast and be able to catch speeding footballs. Soccer allows very little physical contact but football allows a great amount of it such as tackling other players. Another example is that soccer players use their feet to maneuver the ball down the field to score points while in football they use their hands to carry the ball down the field to score touchdowns. The lengths of fields and times of the games are different for soccer and football. For example football is divided into four fifteen minute quarters with half time in between the third and second quarter while soccer is divided into two forty-five to thirty minute halves with half time in between. Also, football fields are one-hundred yards long while soccer fields vary in sizes.
Soccer and football are very similar and enjoyable sports. Each one has its own unique aspect to it that draws fans to watch. The sports both have strong fan bases that supports them.
