Another trend that is happening in football recruiting is coaches refusing to allow committed prospects to take visits elsewhere. Most coaches end up taking away their scholarships. Texas and the likes of Michigan and Oregon are programs that institute a no visit policy for commits. Some coaches are front up with the players they recruit. Coaches install this policy to safeguard against the possibility that prospects may change their minds. I think coaches should allow these players to visits other schools without taking away their scholarship. Some of my college classmates believe “It’s a good idea in case you don’t like that school” (Survey Monkey, 2016).
Dan Samuelson, an offensive tackle from Plymouth High School gave his take on the no visit policy rule, “ I think they have to be that way in order to keep their guys. “But I also think they should let guys make the best choice for them” ( Scherman, 2016). For the players, it’s an exercise in hard work and getting as much information to make their decision as possible. Picking the right school is what matters to the kid. It’s a process that does not get the attention, and appreciation, it deserves. When the kid visits the campus it consists of a personalized tour and office meeting to talk about how the athlete fits within the program.
