Does the love of money account for the development of evil? In this essay I would like to elaborate on why I think the answer is yes. “For the love of money is the root of all evil.” A bible quote from 1 Timothy 6:10, just one example proving the statement that the love of all money is the root of evil to be true. This showing that this is not a new concept to us but rather one that dates back from the biblical era.
The entertainment industry is known for corruption and development of evil. There are actors, singers and models all willing to do whatever it takes to obtain power and of course along with that money. Amy Winehouse’s death or rather life became a prime example of this evil provoked by the need for money. Her music was constantly hitting number 1 on music charts all over the world. She obtained success or more specifically wealth quickly in her career but had continued to pursue money until she had reached the very top of the wealth ladder. This was still not enough to satisfy her. Realising that money could not buy her happiness she turned to drugs and alcohol to fill this emptiness. This money seeking industry caused her to become emotionally unstable and to eventually commit suicide.
However the entertainment industry is not the only factor that encourages these evils. Many people with jobs providing enough to supply for their family would rather go into drug dealing. The manufacturing and selling of illegal substances such as drugs has become popular for making quick money. These drug lords do not stop to think of the harm they are doing the people they sell it to and their families. Their obsession with obtaining more money illegally surpasses the worry of the naive people buying their deadly products. These merchants are seen as heroes in their communities or townships because of the expensive cars they drive around in. While in actual fact they are sending out the wrong message to the youth about how
