Computer science is truly interesting to me because it makes me feel really smart when I am able to code something. Creating apps and games are a great challenge but once it is done it feels really satisfactory knowing that I did it myself. Seeing the final product of an app or game is really satisfying but the whole process takes time and a lot of problem solving. Some steps take more time because they have more steps and require more thinking.
I really am working hard to graduate high school and then enter college, I would be the first generation in my family to attend. It would be a …show more content…
great accomplishment to attend college and be a better person educationally. This school has opened more opportunities for me and has given me more challenges making me think that college is actually reachable for me and anyone else.
Computer science class is really interesting to me because I am able to create apps, games and now we are going to be making a fashion show using
The career I plan to pursuit deals a lot with STEM, mostly science and math. Although these are my two weak subjects that does not discourage me to keep trying to be better at them. I have always been interested in science because it makes me wonder about how things work and ask myself if it would work if it was differently made. I love to watch simple things and ask
myself “how does that work?” I think it is really fascinating that a long time ago when there was less technology people were able to make things work.
I plan to someday be a forensic scientist because it deals with a lot of science and criminal justice. Being a forensic scientist I do not only help myself achieve my goal but I would also be helping other people know the cause, location and time of death of a loved one. Being a forensic scientist seems like a really important job because it gives closure to people and may help discover new findings. In order to be a forensic scientist a bachelor’s degree in natural science and forensic science is needed. A master's degree might also be useful for specialized areas, such as DNA analysis or ballistics. Undergraduate programs include biochemistry, toxicology and criminal justice
courses.
Bioengineering is another career choice I have because it connects engineering and the field of biology and health. Bioengineers make the job of surgeons and doctors easier by helping create machines that help them keep their patients alive and help them get better. While being a bioengineer I would be able to help millions of people even if I don’t actually make an actual device, I can help with just my research. I like the fact that bioengineers work in teams to help each other. Working with other people make solving problems easier and faster because every person takes on a different roll of the project.
As of right now I have Rice University in mind and also UNAM, which is located in Mexico. I think it would be a great experience to study outside of the United States. I have done some research on UNAM and their website includes their forensic science department. During 6th grade “college ready” class we had done research on the colleges that had the field we wanted to study, I used this to find other college I could attend to fulfil my goal to be a forensic scientist. Michigan University is another great choice and it offers three concentrations in forensic anthropology, biology or chemistry. The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas A&M University – college Station are other options I have. I want to go to a university that has both
forensic science and also engineering because I would also like to know more about engineering. Engineering is not my first option but I really like engineering class because I am able to know more about how things are made and how they work. Having an engineering class has made me interested in that field. The University of Texas at Austin would be great because it has both forensic sciences and bioengineering. This would be a great opportunity because I would be able to test out both and be sure of what career I am more comfortable with. Other colleges that include Bioengineering in their curriculums are Texas a&M, The university of Texas at San Antonio and University of Houston. I plan on being in a four year college and then go into the job field.
