Summary Thomas W. Baskin & Robert D. Enright talked about numerous studies that were completed on the effectiveness of forgiveness. Baskin & Robert's intent of this article was to evaluate the outcomes of each study that was completed. According to both Baskin & Robert if forgiveness was a part of counseling it would be defined as a person letting go grudges against the enemy (Baskin & Enright, 2004). “Forgiveness is an act freely chosen by the forgiver” (Baskin & Enright, 2004). Each study was then categorized into three groups; those that were decision based, process based that had a group format and process based that had an individual format. The method consisted of establishing studies which were the nine empirical studies, which were founded to be all fit according to Baskin & Enright. To be sure the studies were accurate a test for homogeneity was done. In order to do a test there had to be a variable in the studies conducted the dependent variable was forgiveness. One that I found most relative to was the example was about a guy that still did not forgave his dad for passing away and blame his mom, because he blamed his mom he had rebellious behavior and anger not only toward her but toward other women as well. Because of my situation I found myself acting out, fighting with my siblings, disrespecting my mom and the biggest thing having trust issues not only within my relationships but toward men in general. It was not until my junior year in college when I spoke with a counselor who was also professor when I was able to forgive. The studies I felt were very forthcoming and understanding for the participants and its readers. I plan on looking more into the nine studies that was summarized within this article so I can get more information of any more research that may have done on other ways of
