Dear Sir,
Poor Maintenance of Taman Jayadiri
I am writing this letter on behalf of the residents of Taman Mega to complain about the dismal conditions we have been putting up with for the past three months.
2. One of the main problems of the residents concerns uncollected rubbish (point 1). Initially, rubbish was collected three times a week. However, since August this year the garbage collectors have only been coming once a week. Our litter bins are always filled to the brim and we have no choice but to leave the bags of rubbish next to the bins. The rotting waste causes a terrible stench (point 2). Furthermore, stray cats and dogs scatter the rubbish (point 3) in searching for food. This leads to unhealthy environment in the neighbourhood.
3. Most of the drains in Taman Mega are clogged (point 4) with rubbish resulting the water becoming stagnant. It is not uncommon to see bottles, dry leaves and plastic bags among others in these drains. There is an urgent need to clear these drains as the stagnant water is an ideal breeding ground for mosquitoes (point 5). The residents are worried as there has been a sharp increase in dengue cases (point 6) documented in the last two months.
4. The street lights along several roads are not working (point 7) as well. This has caused several accidents at night (point 8), mostly involving motorcyclists as they are unable to see in the dark. Apart from that, the dark streets have led to another problem; an increase in crime (point 9). Several residents, especially women, have fallen victim to snatch thieves.
5. Lastly, the one and only playground in our area is not well-maintained (point 10). The grass is overgrown (point 11) as it has not been cut for almost three months. In addition, the playground equipment is damaged (point 12). Many of the see-saws and swings have been spoiled by the act of vandalism.
I hope the council will look into our complaints and take prompt action to solve our problems.
Thank you.
Yours faithfully,
Zain Isma

The project itself will create a playground on the school grounds of Conrad Fischer Elementary School, but will serve as the neighborhood playground with a neighborhood entrance. We will be using new equipment, recyclable equipment, and mainly plastic equipment. We will use Cedar wood chips for older children’s playground and rubber matting for the younger children’s playground. We will use a local community gardener to plant new flowers and plants. We will use volunteers to place the equipment. A contractor however, will be hired to repave an old basketball court. At the end of the project the playground should be able to serve in a safe manner the lower and upper elementary classes of Conrad Fischer, as well as the local neighborhood children and parents. The playground will also be able to serve all levels of care with children. ADA guidelines will be met to give a safe and happy place for all children to play.…

Although having unhealthy food is quite valuable for many students, we should propose something that would benefit the school and the students. I recommend we start replacing unhealthy food like chips and soda pop with more nourishing food like yogurt or fruit juice. This would not only help having healthier food but also persuade students to eat healthy. Another way we can start the process of healthy food is through using the power of posters in which we can advertise about all the advantages of keeping a healthy yet effective food diet. If us grade nine students start eating healthier this would make us great role models for the younger students who would also want to eat food high in nutrients. By applying these methods the grade nine students will still be able to attend there adventure camp in spring every year and also exercise the benefits of eating much healthier.…

Each city is Ontario dumps more them ten-tons of garbage each year on waste lands, or dumps their garbage into the ocean. This causes serious pollution, rending large fields of lands unusable and contaminates water sources in areas which are used for drinking. In addition, due to the unsorted compostiable materials is our garbage, they are then mixed with other wastes and produce strong odours in the air. For example, in early March 2007, in the City of Halifax around seventy people got sick because of the odours emitted from their old waste land: the cause of the problem was people concentrate less on separating compostiables from the rest of the waste. However, Halifax has a new program where employees at their dump plant remove the compostiable waste to avoid less land and air…

Kansas City has a vast variety of neighborhood playgrounds all with different needs depending on where they are located in the city. While the city is known as the City of Fountains it is the park department that is responsible for keeping the main boulevards, fountains beautiful, and playgrounds well manicured. The parks department does not have a large budget and at times has had to cut back and scale down improvements to neighborhood parks. Westside Park playground, in the West Plaza neighborhood, is one of those parks. A major concern of this parent is that the equipment is out dated; the wood chips have broken glass and trash in them, the dogs and neighborhood cat use it as a their private litter box, the play equipment is not handicap accessible and most of the equipment has peeling paint. Westside Park is one of those parks where funding came up short. With the help of West Plaza Neighborhood Association board, neighborhood volunteers and grant money it would transform an outdated, unsafe, and much needed makeover of the play ground into a handicap accessible and environmentally friendly safe playground in the park.…
