My perspective about Vietnam has changed and even though the war was questionable, people who dodged the draft and fled to Canada should be treated like the criminals they are. Traitor! They yelled. Pussy! I felt myself blush. I couldn’t tolerate it. (On the Rainy River.Pg.59). That’s what they’re going to remember when they start their new life in Canada. However, most of them change in that moment they remember their country and how strong and brave their country is and at that occasions they say I would go to the war-I would kill. (On the Rainy Day River.Pg.59). Those who remember their country and what their country is at a time like that are a true patriotism. Those are the people you want on the battlefield, they won’t let you down.
The Vietnam War truly didn’t make sense to most of the soldiers, but they still had hope in their country they believe in their country. They know that their country is leading them the right way. The real people who should be punished are those who dodge the draft. They are cowards. They should be the one who gets boo because they didn’t believe in their country; they didn’t have the true patriotism.
