Foster Children Need Individualized Care

All foster children need individualized care, but some kids need more differentiated care than others. Indian foster children require the adoptive parents and adoptees to acquire more knowledge about the child and their culture. Learning more about the child and what is important in their beliefs can be one of the simplest ways to care for your child. Not only does he/she need to recognize your love, but they need to feel a sense of security when they are with you. “Core international human rights law proclaims that children’s best interests should be the guiding principle in matters related to children and adoption (International).” Therefore, if a child is getting the necessary care, their race should not matter. In fact, the purpose
of a foster home is to allow a child in need to live where they are loved until he/she is able to return to their birth parents. If a child is fostered, then he/she should already be with a family providing excellent care. The point of adopting a child is to put him/her in a home where they can become a permanent part of a family; showing that there should be no difference when a Non-Indian family wants to adopt an Indian child. A child only lives with other homes if he/she is not being cared for properly, so if an Indian child is getting the necessary love and attention from a non-Indian couple, why not allow them to become a member of their family?
