Fountain and Beautiful Ancient Ruins
One of the most exciting moments in my life was when I went to Italy for my cousin’s wedding. When I look back on that trip I will always remember the beautiful ancient ruins and amazing scenery. Italy is a place filled with architecture, food, and Italian arts. The trip was not only a vacation, but also a learning experience as a whole.
I went to Italy for a few weeks and I would have spent an entire lifetime if I could have. The first place that I went in Italy was a small town called Portofino. It overlooks the Mediterranean Sea and is surrounded with Italian villas on the tops of mountains. There are huge vineyards filled with grapes and are also surrounded by the sea. Portofino is known for it harbor containing fish and other aquatic life. Also, many people own boats along the seaside and take them to visit other towns.
I also went to Venice, Italy, which is completely surrounded by water. Venice is known mostly for is architecture but also its art. Everything in Venice is built on wooden piles in the water. To travel anywhere in Venice you have to take a boat from town to town. Venice is also known for gondola rides at the Grand Canal.
In Italy we took a few different ways of transportation. To get to other cites we took a train. Riding on a train is a completely unfamiliar thing to do in America but in other countries it is how you get around. We took boats to go to towns that were not too far away. The plane ride there was about ten hours and the airports in America versus the airports in Italy are somewhat different.
Rome was my favorite place to visit because it had the most beautiful sites to see. It is a huge city full of history and stories. Visiting Vatican City, the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain and many other ancient buildings was unforgettable.
Overall the trip was a success and I think that travel is a memorable thing that everyone should get to do a few times in his or her lifetime. New surroundings, new people, and a new atmosphere are

The Voyage of Discovery 2016 explains my motives in its title–– I want to discover the country that holds both my family pastime and my current unbreakable passions. In my career, I plan to work with US/Italy relations revolving around business and teaching. The Voyage of Discovery 2016 will allow me to become exposed to the country that I wish to constantly work with in my future, and it will provide me with knowledge and understanding of cultural differences. Learning of cultural differences is something I believe is very important for Italian Americans to understand, which is why this would be a great part to take away from the Voyage of Discovery 2016 program. Gaining new knowledge of the Italian language and experiencing the culture that my family and ancestors have known for generations is something that I hope to take away from the Voyage of Discovery 2016. Altogether, traveling to Italy through the Voyage of Discovery 2016 program will allow me to follow my passion to learn and assimilate into the culture of…

I would want to go somewhere in Europe because i think it would be a good experience to go somewhere where the people don’t live the same way we do. Also, if I were able to go to Europe, I would have the opportunity to see some of my extended family from Ireland and Italy that I never get the chance to see. Another reason I would want to go to Europe is because I want to see some of the famous landmarks the countries hold. If I went I would want to see landmarks such as the leaning tower of Pisa in Italy, the Eiffel tower in France, and the Colosseum in Italy. Also, if I were to go to Europe I would want to go to Switzerland or Italy to go skiing. I would want to go skiing in the Alps because I have heard its one of the best places to ski in the world. Another reason I want to go to Europe is to try different types of food from different countries. Some food I want to try is pizza from Italy, and escargot from France. Also, If I went to Europe and visited Italy I would try to pick up as much Italian as a possibly could because my grandparents are from Italy and speak Italian so if I learned the language I could speak fluent Italian with them which I think would be pretty cool. After arriving at the airport we had to transfer to a train that would take us to the city center. It was about a 30-minute train ride. Along the ride I was getting my first look at Rome, mostly the colorful countryside with the rows of sunflowers that were so splendid with bright yellow centers, and green leaves that were so full of life. Just pass the beautiful field of sunflowers was a small farmhouse made of stone. You could see the smoke coming out of the chimney and the farmers working their land.…

It was a long climb, probably the longest climb I have ever attempted, When I reached the top I felt that I would collapse any minute. My legs were numb, my clothes were all wet out of sweat and I was completely breathless. Even though I felt completely exhausted, the climb was well worth it. What I saw up there was a memorable and probably the most spectacular view I have ever seen. The wind blew at its strongest at the very top, pigeons were all over the place, and the Sun felt as if it's concentrating its light only at this very top. The view was the best part of it all, looking down at Rome from the very top of St. Peter's Basilica was and always will be a memory that I will never forget. It was this exact event that made me think to myself that I was glad to have come for this remarkable Italian adventure and I would never cease to forget such a wonderful vacation.…

    Italy Dream Vacation

Italy is a land of rich and decadent foods, colorful citizens who live and love with passion and my dream vacation destination. I have dreamt of taking my large Italian family to Italy to walk the same roads as our ancestors since I was a young girl. Now is a time when I am able to splurge and bring my dream to fruition. The cost of taking my family to Italy will be quite exorbitant in monetary terms; the airfare alone is enough to make my piggy bank squeal in protest. My family thinks that a trip to Italy is too expensive and that I should not spend my money on something so extravagant. However, I do not feel one can put a price tag on the experience of exploring the country of my ancestors with my family.…
