Introduction
Family is commonly known as the basic unit of society and most important organization here on earth. The first school of each child is home where their parents stand as their first teacher. It is said that, whatever the child possess outside the home reflects on what family he or she has. The home is the best place to teach, learn good manner and discipline. Sharing life together in marriage and with the children increases the happiness of man and woman. Parents must teach their children all day, every day, whether they realize it or not. Children pick up the habits of their parents, the prejudices, and values from what they do as well as from what they say. Today, it is necessary to know what kind of parents a 21st century student has which definitely affect their academic performance in school. As well as for teachers and readers to know the effect of parenting styles of Filipino parents in academic performance of the students.

1. What is the profile of the respondents in terms of: 1.1 Age 1.2 General Average (Third Year) 1.3 Educational Attainment of both Parents 1.4 Parent’s age when they have their first born 1.5 Number of Children
2. What are the four basic parenting style used by the parents of the respondents?
IMPORTANT OF THE STUDY
This research attempts to look into and impart information regarding the effect of parenting styles used by the parents of the students of Bonifaio Javier National High School in relation with their academic performance in school.
Parents - The result of the research should enable parents to understand the important of parenting style to discipline their children. That their parenting style has a big impact in the academic performance of their child.
School – The school being the legitimate avenues for both parents and children in assessing academic performance of the students.
