In the book Tattoos on the Heart by Gregory Boyle, Fr. Boyle exemplified and depicted the moral of “the power of boundless compassion” for his love with the homies. Through obtaining an upbeat attitude of never giving up, believing and forgiving the homies, having infinite patience, giving ceaseless chances, and evangelizing the light of Christ, Boyle has the power to change the homies’ lives for the better. Moreover, Boyle acts as Jesus, lighting the path through the darkness to those who need it most. Consequently, Boyle is, in some ways, sent to the homies by the Holy Spirit to guide them to the right path by the power of boundless compassion.…

Romans1-8 teaches us many things regarding how we were created, why we exist, and what comes next. More specifically, it emphasizes the natural world, our human identity and relationships, as well as the culture we live in. The example of a hazelnut presented by Julian fully explains the occasionally confusing concept of God’s love, as it lists three qualities that everything in creation has. Julian explains these qualities as “God made it, God loves it, and God keeps it.” (p. 292). These simple qualities allow one to easily understand that just like the hazelnut God cares about us, loves us, and will keep us from harm. The author also shows another example of God’s love in simple terms, saying that “He is our clothing that for love wraps and winds us, envelopes and embraces us, and all becloses us, hangs about us for tender love so that he may never leave us” (292). In these lines, Julian shows us once again how much God loves us, without needing to resort to vague terms and confusing ideas. Instead, the author shows us a pleasant and uncomplicated image of God, showing how “he is to us all thing that is good and comfortable” (292). Julian’s examples show us that even though God’s love seems incomprehensible, anyone can understand it when using simple…

In a time where the majority of music is about making money, doing drugs, or having sex, it is complicated for music concerning other topics to gain attention. However, there are always a few jewels that beat the odds. Lecrae, the stage name of a Christian lyricist who piously centers his music around the teachings of Jesus Christ, is one of those jewels. In all of his songs there are explicit references that all of his energy is channeled into doing the will of God. Typically Lecrae’s genre of music is overlooked by the majority population because it lacks the pizazz in the beat that popular music has. As a result of this millions of people get deprived of the content of Christian music which has the power to change one’s perspectives for the better. Fortunately, Lecrae is one of very few artists who are able to blend the attractive rhythms of pop music with lyrics composed of the deep Christian concepts. In Lecrae’s “Chase That (Ambition)” the beat of the song alone captures listeners’ attention followed by critical lyrics of Lecrae convincing listeners that satisfaction in life would not be reached by chasing their own desires but by rather chasing to live a life after Jesus Christ.…

This statue in particular portrays different examples of humanism. The statue of David originated from a biblical story of David and Goliath; he is considered a hero and champion. It was his greatest victory and an ideal situation for a human. Therefore the sculptor, Michelangelo depicts David in the most idealistic form of a human; where he represents a strong being, exuding concentration and self-confidence. Michelangelo sculpted what would be considered the perfection of a human and this was largely attributed his own study of the human form. Giorgio Vasari, from his Lives of the most excellent painters, sculptors and architects, states “For in it may be seen most beautiful contours of legs, with attachments of limbs and slender outlines of flanks that are divine; nor has there ever been seen a pose so easy, or any grace to equal that in this work, or feet, hands and head so well in accord, one member with another, in harmony, design, and excellence of artistry”. (Michelangelo's…

Next, Keenan begins a discussion on why theological teachings should start with love. He roots his reasoning in the demands of scripture, the fact that love precedes all other teachings in theology, and that love is the driving force behind the human experience. To elaborate on his second reason, I would go so far as to say that one couldn’t have freedom or truth (points he used to begin his teachings with) without having love. To have freedom and truth one must have the respect for humanity that love brings. Further, Keenan emphasizes his last point with the comparison of the Michelangelo vs. Caravaggio paintings of the conversion of Paul.…
