The first problem the reader was introduced to was housing, the family moves for work and can’t buy a new house every time they move do to money problems. The family works together and individually on this problem, they work together buy not complaining about the home I found this out from pages 2-3. On pages 2-3 I also learn that they worked individually
by each cleaning one part of the garage they call home, I know this also from this quote “Roberto swept away the loose dirt, leaving the hard ground. Papa plugged the holes in the walls with old newspapers and tin can tops. Mama fed my little brothers and sisters. Papa and Roberto then brought in the mattress and placed it in the far corner of the garage” this shows that they all worked individually to solve the problem
As you already know the family has some money problems, I know this from page 3. The reason I know this is because of second to last paragraph on pg.3 that says in it “Papa then took out pencil and began to figure out how much we had earned our first day. He wrote down the numbers, crossed some out, wrote down some more. “Quince” he murmured.”, Quince means 15. The boys had worked 12 hours and only got $15 between all three of them, that is they live off of a day. To deal with this challenge they just did have to deal with it, they did not complain or anything like that they knew that was the only way the would get their money. So if you think about it they did work individually and together, individually they kept their mouths closed and worked their best, together they all worked together to support their family.
As you now know this family suffered many challenges, but did not let anything get in the way of working or supporting their families. I hope I informed you on the struggles and their of dealing with it.
