Book Analysis 1 Mary Shelly’s novel Frankenstein, or The Modern Prometheus, Victor Frankenstein is portrayed as the tragic hero. “…Suggestion of the guardian angle of my life-the last effort made by the spirit of preservation to avert the storm that was even then hanging in the stars and ready to envelop me,”(Shelly, 32). This quote is the foreshadowing the doom that is soon to come for the tragic figure. A tragic figure involves a character that most likely has to die because of a certain tragic flaw they obtain. Frankenstein abandoned his creation, like the coward he is for months. Throw out these months he decided to visit his family back in Geneva. While victor was away at his birthplace his brother was mysterious murdered and his close family confesses to committing the crime. She then goes to trail where he is found guilty for the murder of victor’s brother. She pleads to victor and Elizabeth that she was truly innocent. Aware of that receive, victor just pretends as if his creation dose not exist and dose not speak up, later Justine is then hung. Victor and the creator later confront each other. Although victor agrees to make a female, he realizes he cannot have another being unleashed into the world. Victor destroyed hos creation in the process, but the monster witnesses the crime. The monster is angered and slowly but surly starts getting his revenge on victor through his love ones,” I am the assassin of those most innocent victims; they died by my machinations,”(Shelly, 185). Many family’s members are being killed, it takes s toll on victors father, who dies from all the grief he had experienced. The only happy event is victor’s life at this point is the marriage between him and Elizabeth. Fearing that the monster would return for revenge on his wedding night, victor leaves his wife alone in the cottage, thinking that the monster coming for him. When he was returns shocked to find that Elizabeth is dead,” the murderous make of the friends grasp was in her neck, and the breath has caused to issue from her lips,”(Shelly, 195). The whole time victor thought that monster, was out to kill him but instead he was selfish enough to leave Elizabeth alone and got her killed
