For our project, Zack and I made a short movie, depicting an interview done with both the monster and Frankenstein. We came up with this idea by first thinking about our theme, both isolation and one’s upbringing significantly determined their actions later on in life. In order to best show this theme, we decided that we must have both of the two main characters present, and we must talk to them together, since this would show contrast with our theme of solitude. The newscast made sense to us, as, had this book taken place in a more recent time period, a lot of Frankenstein and his creation’s actions would have easily been headline news stories.

I learned the importance of compromise, as it is very unlikely that both people will agree on everything. For instance, we had different views on the theme of the book, but we ended up compromising to form one theme. Additionally, communication is a skill that I took out of working with a partner. The only way that one can compromise on an issue is if they first communicate their differences in opinion. Communication is also important when setting up a time to work. Although Zack and I worked on the script by ourselves a lot, we had to talk in order to set up a time to film. Partnerships are also good because they give one a chance to bounce ideas off of someone else.
All in all, I am happy with our finished product. While it may not have turned out exactly like I had expected, I believe that it does successfully capture the grasp of the theme that we have. This project definitely deepened my understanding of Frankenstein. I had to thoroughly look through the book in order to find the textual evidence. Also, in order to complete this project, I had to view the book through a different lense. I had to analyze it, rather than just read the
