Spring Term 2014 Destrehan High School Mr. Dorris
Dear Parent,
I will be instructing your child in my English III, American Literature class this term. In order to guarantee your child and all the students in my class the excellent educational climate they deserve, I have developed a discipline plan that will be in effect at all times.
When in my class, students must comply with the following rules:
1.) Be on time. (In your seat, ready to begin, when the bell rings)
2.) Be prepared. Parents, please be sure your child has a quiet place to read and study.
There will be homework almost every night and most weekends. (30 - 60 minutes).
3.) Respect yourself and others at all times.
4.) No food, drinks or GUM in the classroom please.
If a student breaks a rule, the following consequences will occur:
1st Offense - Warning
2nd Offense - He or she will be the last to leave the classroom and a phone call home.
3rd Offense - Lunch detention and/or after school detention. I will contact the parents.
4th Offense - Referral to the office
Severe clause - Immediate referral to the office.
Included in my discipline plan are ways to positively reinforce students who behave appropriately. In addition to using frequent praise, I will also reward students for using appropriate behavior. Working together we can enable your child to have an exciting and successful school year. Please discuss this letter with your child, then sign it and return it to me. I sincerely thank you for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
